Watching a miracle unfold . . .
Those of you that know our story know that the past year has been difficult. We’ve had a lot of transition and a lot of challenges. One of which was selling a house in Southern Illinois in a less than desirable market.
Our house has been for sale since March 2009 and the price has been dropping ever since. God has been faithful to allow us to make our mortgage payments every month, but it has been very tight, and we’ve been running through our savings. In December we really hit a crossroads. We realized we could lose everything if God didn’t intervene. We’ve been praying since March, but we started praying harder, we asked for creativity, we asked for wisdom . . . we asked for a miracle.
We found out last week that we had a prospective buyer, but that they were planning on offering a very low amount. We prayed that God would give us wisdom. We were at a point that we had to take whatever would be offered because we couldn’t afford to keep paying the monthly expenses.
Late last night we got our phone call, and they did offer a very low amount, but . . . they were not the only offer. A different couple wanted to see the house yesterday. They walked through and decided our house is what they had been looking for. They drew up paperwork for their offer, at the FULL current asking price, just hours after the initial offer came through.
We are no stranger to contracts – we’ve had a contingency contract on the house for months. This new couple have already sold their house, are pre-approved, and need to move in . . . literally yesterday. They don’t want us to buy them a home warranty. They don’t want the house inspected. We are good to go.
We are in the middle of a miracle.
It wasn’t a coincidence that the second couple needed to see the house yesterday. We have had numerous friends and family members tell us that God placed us on their hearts yesterday, and that they had been praying our house would sell. We asked for prayer at church on Sunday morning. Our realtor was lead to pray specifically for our house yesterday.
God was moving, just like He always does . . . sometimes quietly, sometimes slowly, but always perfectly so that the timing is always right. The timing for our contract is perfect. If we can close this month, we will have already paid our last mortgage payment.
We are so incredibly thankful that God has walked with us these long months. We are so happy that He isn’t finished, that He will still walk with us long after the closing date. I can not describe the feeling of knowing that something that has caused so much stress and so much frustration is almost over. But that does not compare with the feeling that comes with knowing God has never left us or forsaken us, that He cares so deeply about the things we care about and that this is just the beginning of something very exciting.
God, there are only two words left to say . . . Thank you.
