Super Elmo Costume
I’m so excited to reveal the first costume of design season in the Trevino household . . . SUPER ELMO!
This is the first year Noah’s actually had the opportunity to choose his own Halloween costume. Usually Big Brother picks something that goes along with his costume (think little brother sidekick like Robin and Superman), but Noah was insistent that Super Elmo was his choice. I was excited for the challenge!
I based my interpretation of Super Elmo off of this graphic from the Sesame Street Live: Elmo’s Super Heroes show (minus of course the blue running shorts). I wanted to create a costume that was easy, functional and warm, so I purchased a red sweatshirt and red sweatpants, embellished with polar fleece and satin elements purchased from a local fabric store.
Listed below are specific directions for each piece of the costume:
Elmo Hat
Cape/Shirt Combo
- Lightning Bolt Graphic (blown up to 7-1/2″ – 8″ long)
- Instructions for attaching polar fleece lightning bolt to shirt in DIY Logo T’s
- Attaching the cape in Sewing an Attached Cape
I was very happy with the result:
I couldn’t get Noah to cooperate for a picture, so big brother was happy to oblige :).
