Lights come up on REVEREND.
REVEREND:
The hardest ministering I’ve ever done was at Ground Zero. When the dust began settling and the country returned to their normal lives, the men and women of New York City still stood in disbelief at their tremendous loss. Firefighters, police, and EMS workers were tired. The wounded dead never stopped surfacing amidst the rubble of what once was the epitome of the American economy. The pain of the living surviving with their dead did not fade with the interest of the nation, as the spark that caused America to turn to God did.
Many people think it’s hard to see God through the disasters and the evils in the world, but I believe that they are mistaken. When Jesus walked the face of this earth He stood in the very middle of it. He wasn’t found living the easy life of his day. He didn’t run to safety when life got tough. He was right in the middle of where people lived. He associated with them in their darkest moments and held them up through their defeats. He worked at “ground zero” to bring people to the place they needed to be in Him.
I can promise you that He walked Ground Zero New York City as He walked through the “ground zeroes” of the New Testament, as He will continue to walk through each and every “ground zero” the world will ever know. He was on the planes that crashed into the towers, and the Pentagon, and the forest in Pennsylvania. He was with the men and women that lost their lives in the collapse, and He worked alongside the nations new-found heroes that risked their lives daily for the needs of others.
Jesus understands well the cost of a sacrificed life. He gave His own life to rescue each and every one of us out of the rubble of our own. The task is never too daunting, the danger never too grave for Him to abandon His children. He is the ultimate example of a hero . . . the ultimate example of a Savior.
