Potty Training Travel Seat

I was able to attend my friend Kara’s daughter’s first birthday party today and of course was talking to all the other moms and dads about their own adventures in potty training.  Getting tired of having to lug our potty seat around every where we went, I wanted to know what others did when going to a public restroom.  Even when Elijah is able to sit on the toilet sans seat, I don’t know if I want his bum touching the toilet at say Costco (where I had to clean up a grown person’s PEE on Friday – uggh!).

My friend Erin immediately pulled out a folding potty seat her mom bought her from Buy Buy Baby.  I was delighted!  It was not much bigger than my wipes container folded, and offered complete coverage for the toilet.  The best part is that because of the way the product is designed, the part that touches your child’s behind is never touching the part that touches the toilet – so if you’re unable to clean it say IMMEDIATELY you don’t have to worry.

The product is called PRIMO Folding Potty with Handles and retails through the affiliate Amazon link I’ve provided.

I feel like this potty seat is going to make my life so much easier.  I don’t know how long it will take for Elijah to be comfortable on a regular toilet, and I don’t like the germs that come with them.  I’m not into keeping a whole potty chair in the back of my car either.  I also haven’t actually been out sans a potty buddy (i.e. Mike or my mom) and know I won’t have the time to clean our regular potty seat after every bathroom visit when I’m alone.  For now this seems like the perfect fix.

Just wanted to pass along the suggestion to any other moms and dads who are in the midst of their own potty training adventure!
