Hi, I’m Kristen!
I’ve been captivated by Jesus since the age of four. I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for fifteen years. We have three amazing daughters: Alexis – age 8, who has Sensory Processing Disorder, Jasmine – age 6, who wears cool glasses, and Kaitlyn – age 3, who was born a preemie and is stuck like glue to me. I became a stay-at-home-mom when Alexis was born. We currently live in central Ohio where I blog, write, do a newsletter for a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, connect with moms, read lots of books…and spend a lot of time in the kitchen!
I’ve had a dream in my heart to write a book since I can remember. But it wasn’t until my late 20’s that it became clear what I needed to write about. In the throes of mothering, I didn’t really start writing until I launched my blog in 2011. My first self-published eBook was completed in 2012. Currently, I am working on co-authoring what will be a traditionally published book.
Fun Facts About Me:
- I love dark chocolate
- I drink organic half-decaf low-acid coffee
- I enjoy dancing, working out, and listening to loud music
- I love lizards and cats
- I can be a little “geeky,” but I’m also an artist
My blog
On Wings & Waves is where I blog mostly to give inspiration, spiritual growth, hope and healing to women. Based upon the past ten years of my life story, I have some specific areas of passion, which I share with my readers. Those areas are miscarriage, (I have three babies in heaven), parenting special needs kids (in my case, specifically Sensory Processing Disorder), gluten-free living/recipes, and advocating for children, (those in poverty, those who are sick, or orphans).

31 Days of Prayers for the Busy Woman
Prayer is a pillar of the Christian faith and one of the main sources of building a relationship with God and of growth and encouragement. It can also move the hand of God to see miracles, reconciliations, and make a way where there seems to be no way.
I always knew these things, but prayer has been one of the weakest disciplines in my life. After I read a few books on prayer, I knew I needed to focus on it more. So I wrote this book, with 31 prayers covering a large array of topics for myself, as much as to help others. This is for those of us who like to be organized and need a kick in the pants to get started or keep going in the area of prayer.
Traditional Book
Miscarriage book that is yet untitled
I am currently co-authoring a book with another Christian writer who has lost four pregnancies. We explore various Biblical figures that faced difficulties in their lives. We look at when faith is rocked and trust is shaken. We answer the question, “Who is God, and can we really trust him?” We look at emotions and the gaps that exist between our feelings and living life. Finally, we encourage readers to reach out to help and give hope to others.
Let’s talk tomorrow
Like a lot of people, I always had dreams of writing a book “one day.” It really wasn’t until I experienced my miscarriages and joined an online support group, that I developed a passion and vision for writing a book about it. My writing journey is fueled by passion and vision that has extended from my life experiences. Sensing a need in those areas has caused me to “take the bull by the horns” and pursue authoring.
Thanks for joining us Kristen!
Be sure to come back tomorrow – Kristen is sharing the journey that has led her to blog, self-publish and pursue traditional publishing as well as her best advice to keep you moving forward in your work.
