Light Has Come
Experience Christmas is a 19-day devotional series based on the Scriptural narrative and aimed at creating space during a beautiful, but hectic time of year to wonder at the miracle of Christmas. You’re joining us on day five, with music from Barlow Girls and a recap of our study so far.

The birth of Christ was never meant to be a static event, pinned to a single page of history. Our story is His-story; promised by God, foreshadowed through Israel, and hopelessly longed for until God knew the timing was perfect and right to bring the Light of Christ into the world.
Jesus is the promise God made to Eve in the Garden, and the promise made to Israel.
Jesus is the promise made to Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and Wise Men.
Jesus is the promise God makes to us. The one in which all our longing rests, and all the waiting of our hearts is for. He is the broken silence and the one who makes clear the way for us to God.
As we look towards the weekend, let’s celebrate that Light has come not only to a sin sick world –
Not only to longing Israel –
But Light has come to you and me.
Consider
- In what ways does the imagery of Christ as Light in Isaiah 60:1-2 speak to you?
- Consider how the story of redemption is told through the history of Israel. How does this impact your understanding of the Christmas narrative found in the Gospels?
Pray
Pray that the Light of Christ would illuminate your heart and your mind.
Jesus thank you that you are the Light that shines brightly through the darkness of our world, and the darkness of our hearts. Thank you for being ever present through every page-turn of history, and thank you for coming to us in a way we could know and understand.
