Hostess Checklist & Prep Worksheets | If You’re Going to Host Thanksgiving

Hostess Checklist & Prep Worksheets

Today I’m drawing from my days as an event coordinator and sharing checklists and worksheets that can assist you in prepping for your big Thanksgiving day.  I will be including a small jpeg of each sheet next to the page description so you can view it’s contents before you commit to a download.  To download the 8.5X11 sheet, click the section’s header-link.

Happy planning! 🙂

Thanksgiving Meal Plan

Planning your meal and the ingredients and tools you need to prepare it are the first steps to making your meal a success.  Make a list of the dishes you plan to serve.  Include in the prep and cooking notes who is responsible, when it will be taking place, and how long it will take.  Additionally include in the cooking notes where the dish will be warmed/cooked (i.e. crockpot, oven, roaster oven).

With your plan in hand, you can make a grocery list and comparison shop for the best deals.

I included a sample of my own Thanksgiving Meal Plan in yesterday’s post.

Thanksgiving Meal Prep & Cook Timeline

Now that you have your meal plan, it’s time to plot out a schedule detailing your prep work and cooking times for all dishes.  Start with what can be accomplished on Wednesday, leaving only what is absolutely necessary to accomplish on Thursday.

It is important to note the start time, dish, action (what you need to accomplish and at what temperature), who will be responsible, what cooking method will be used and for how long.

After you’ve completed the planning, all that’s left is to make the magic happen!

Hostess Checklist (2 pgs)

If you are hosting overnight guests in addition to preparing the Thanksgiving Day meal you have your work cut out for you.  This checklist is designed to get you thinking in advance about some of the non Turkey-Day components of your holiday.

Hope your Thanksgiving hosting experience is a success this year!
