Happy Thanksgiving | Great is His Faithfulness

I took some time this week to read through the notes in my Thankful Jar, and was overwhelmed by the faithfulness of God. We have so much to be thankful for this year. So many needs met. So many prayers answered. In our lives and in the lives of some of our closest friends.

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Yet for every answered prayer I know there are still longings that have yet to be realized, and some miracles that are still on the way. Today, I am reminded to be thankful for the story that God is writing in the moments of waiting, for us and for the people we love.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided –
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

He never changes. The faithfulness He has shown before is the faithfulness that greets us fresh and new every morning, and it’s this that makes my heart so full of thanks this year.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
