Faith Over Fear
Women in the Lineage of Messiah
Overview
Faith Over Fear is a dramatic presentation for a core dramatic ensemble of 7 – 15 actors. It unveils the stories of five women named in Jesus’ genealogy through narration, Scripture reading, monologue and song.
Synopsis
Including mothers in a Jewish genealogy of fathers and sons was a unique and bold move by the disciple Matthew. The Jews knew Messiah had to fulfill God’s promises to Abraham and David, for He would be both a blessing to the whole world and a king from David’s line.
But why would the Lord include these imperfect women, with messy lives and questionable character in the written lineage of His Son?
Faith Over Fear invites congregants to consider this question through the lens of sinful humanity and the incredible grace of Jesus Christ. The women included in Jesus’ genealogy remind us that in every generation and in every promise, God provides the faith we need to follow Him without fear.
