Elijah’s Second Birthday!
Mike and I had so much fun celebrating Elijah’s big day with him yesterday. We kept things relatively low-key, but had an awesome time. We started the day off with multiple rounds of “Happy Birthday” and let him open his gift from us – a car transporter – which was a big hit. We spent lots of time loading and unloading Hotwheels over the past two days!
After Mike got off work, we took Elijah to the Kohl’s Children’s Museum at The Glen for the Curious George exhibit. I think we had as much fun as Elijah.
One of our favorite exhibits was the kiddie-size Dominicks where Elijah had a lot of fun pretending to be the cashier. Mike and I took turns filling a kiddie-cart with grocery items so Elijah could scan them and throw them into an empty cart Trader Joe’s style.
Our second favorite exhibit was the kiddie-size Potbellies Sandwich shop. Elijah was not as interested in making sandwiches as much as he was interested in sitting at the register again (imagine that!) or mopping the floor.
We wound down our birthday celebrations with lunch and cupcakes from our favorite bakery – LeSucre in Niles. Elijah picked out his Chocolate Dark Chocolate cupcake the day before and Mommy had a wonderful Tiramisu cupcake. Elijah was of course only interested in the chocolate on top – so Daddy had some of his cupcake too.
All of our excitement led to a very tired little boy. So after we tried naptime with no success, we just tried to keep it cool until we could manage bedtime.
It was a full day, but a day this Momma will remember forever :). Love you Elijah!
