A Christmas Prayer for Sandy Hook
Today we bleed from the memory of yesterday,
Crying for those left behind,
Holding our own children tighter,
Praying prayers with no words,
To the God who knows our hearts.
Someday good will rise from tragedy,
Like hope springs new on the morning sun.
But today we cling to His promises,
And run headlong into His love,
Holding tight to God’s faithfulness,
That sustains through deep despair.
For even through the darkest night,
The Light shines brighter still,
The Light that’s come to heal us all.
