-29-
I recently celebrated a birthday – the last of my twenties. I know most people get a little reflective when they hit 30, but I’ve always been ahead of myself. Add in the fact that we’ve just celebrated a New Year and my mind is racing with what I want to accomplish before I hit the big 3-0.
Here are some of the goals I’ll be working towards this year . . .
LOSE WEIGHT (30+ lbs)
Yes we’ve already talked about this, and no I’m not where I should be. Even though I’ve committed to it. Even though I’ve blogged about it. I’m calling a mulligan, and I’m starting again. This is my year. I will wear the pants that have been hanging in my closet for 6 years. I will and I must.
REMAIN UN-PREGNANT
You may laugh, but I’m serious. I’ve been either pregnant or nursing since 2007. I think I deserve a little break before we think about baby #3. Plus it would really help me achieve my first goal . . .
OLD SCHOOL DEVOs
I’ve always prioritized reading my Bible but becoming a mom has made consistency a challenge. I’ve signed up for an online reading plan with YouVersion that’s going to take me through the year. Added twist . . . the plan is set up chronologically, so I won’t be reading from cover to cover.
EXPERIENCE
As a rule of thumb, I do more than I experience. I want to breathe a little, slow down a little and stop and smell the flowers more. I want to intentionally try to enjoy the experiences that come with the doing.
CREATE
I want to blog consistently, work on my creative writing skills, cook, sew, sing . . . you get the idea. With little ones, these things are often what gets swept to the side . . . but I’ve learned without them, it’s hard to really be me.
ORGANIZE
I like to organize things that allow me to bask in the accomplishment of progress . . . like the bookshelves in my living room, my kids closets or my collection of Starbucks mugs. I have something to show for my work at the end of those projects. Nobody sees the bills or the finances or the filing but me. This year I must feign interest and try harder.
I’ll stop there. I think I have enough to make 2012 a busy and (hopefully) progressive year! 🙂
What do you want to accomplish this year?
